The 4-th Conference on Elementary Processes in Atomic Systems (CEPAS 2008) will be held between June 18 (Wednesday) and 20 (Friday), 2008 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and it will be hosted by the Faculty of Physics, Babeş-Bolyai University.
The conference venue will be the central building of the Babeş-Bolyai University, located in the center of Cluj-Napoca (str. Kogalnicenu nr. 1). The conference language will be English.
If you come by plane, send us your arrival information and you will be picked up at the airport by minibuses and lifted either to Agape or Universitas Hotel.
If you come by car from Oradea take into
account that the distance between Oradea and Cluj Napoca is 150km which means
that you will be driving for about 2h 30 min.
Leaving Floresti, the village just before Cluj, you will see on the right side:
METRO, POLUS Center and PRAKTIKER. Go ahead and under the bridge and you will
enter the town. Follow the red itinerary on

but the entrance is from Plopilor Street, as marked in the map.

If
you come by train, from the tram station located
just in front of the railwaystation you have to get the tram no. 101 or 102 and
to get off at the 4-th station which is just in the front of the Universitas
Hotel.
Tickets ("bilete") are sold at special booths, found in most stations.
All tickets are for two trips. The price is 1.5 LEI per trip, regardless of the
distance. One trip is considered from the station you get on the bus until you
get off. Tickets CANNOT be bought from the driver.
Taxi
Taxis are the other
alternative for urban traveling. There are around 3000 cabs in Cluj-Napoca ; you
can recognize them by the signs on the side doors and on the top. There are
about 5 major cab companies: Diesel, Terra &Fan, Pro rapid, Nova, Pritax, etc.
Their cars are all equipped with taximeters and have about the same prices,
posted in a visible place outside (under the lateral mirrors) and inside. You
are charged 1.79 LEI for departure, 1.79 LEI/kilometer and 1.79 LEI/minute of
idle time during daytime and 1.99LEI/minute during the night or 15.90 LEI/hour.
You will also be given a receipt.
There are some unregistered taxis, operating especially around the railway
station and the airport. Try to avoid them, as they will charge you even three
times the normal price.
Settled along the Someş river, Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár, Klausenburg) city is one of the most important academic, cultural and industrial centers in Romania. Considered to be the historic capital of Transylvania, the city is located in northwestern part of Romania and it is one of the most visited cities in the country.

Archangel, the patron saint of Cluj-Napoca.
The city is today one of the most important academic, cultural, industrial and
business centers in Romania. Students count more than a third of the town's
population. Among others, it hosts the largest university in the country,
Babeş-Bolyai
University with more than 54000 students.
Many hotels and restaurants as well as museums, historical or archaeological monuments, galleries, botanical garden, shopping centers, banks or exchange offices are within walking distances from the conference site.
The climate in Cluj-Napoca is relaxing and refreshing due to a relatively constant temperature (winter average -1.9 oC, summer average: 18.7 oC). During June, the weather is pleasant with the ambient temperature varying normally between 15-25 oC.

By plane
Cluj-Napoca International Airport offers connections with several major cities of Europe.
However, in some cases could be convenient to come by plane to Cluj-Napoca via Bucharest (see http://www.otp-airport.ro/www/index.html?&setLanguage=EN ) or via Budapest (see http://www.bud.hu/english )
By train
Cluj-Napoca has rail connections with every major city in Romania and the rest of Europe. The main railway station is placed near the center of Cluj-Napoca. (for more information see: www.raileurope.com and http://www.mersultrenurilorcfr.ro)
Visas
Visas are not required for citizens of the European Union. For non-EU citizens more information can be obtained from the Romanian Embassy or Consulate in your country. If you need a visa, a personal invitation letter may be necessary, which you can ask for from the Organizing Committee.
