Romanian physics professor Flaviu Turcu, from Babes- Bolyai university in Cluj, has won the R&D awards, also widely recognized as the “Oscars of invention”. Every year R&D awards 100 most innovative breakthroughs of the year and this year Turcu was one of the winners.

Flaviu Turcu was recruted among with other scientists in 2010 to work together in the Pacific Northwest National research laboratory. Flaviu Turcu’s team has developed a “pressurized magic angle spinning technology” which will allow analysis of complex sample in environments that mimic real life environments. The professor and his team has researched carbon sequestration and recreated conditions deep underground and tracked the chemical reactions in biofuels.
